Lucia Mazer Workshop i 2006

Lucia Mazer is a fabulous dancer and teacher and is a central figure in the new generation of tango stars. Awareness and dynamics are keywords to her dance and the tender and airily style have inspired to a new understanding of the female influences on the dance. Focus in the workshops will be on technique, communication and dynamics. The two double lessons saturday and sunday will additionally work in-depth with tango elements.

 

The Workshops

Structure of the space Like the pieces of chess, we have certain code of movements and we learn about the totality of the possibilities. How to integrate in the dance: Action, reaction, and rhythm, departing from the conscience of the movement in the space. This workshop describes the undamental tools used in the workshops saturday and sunday.

Rhytm and music from the body The idea is to open the door to the personal music interpretation. Putting the body to music's service. Working in different stages: 1-Rhythm; 2-Quality of movement; 3-Interpretation.

Technique for an organic movement & sacadas The body is created in spirals. There we put the focus to discover what kind of movements we naturally create in between the couple and how to use them to develop an organic dance. In the last part of the course we will work with Sacadas. Notice this course is in two lessons.

Dynamics in the dance & ganchos Studying different qualities of movement (speed, form, weigh, reaction, etc) to enrich the improvisation opening the spectrum of the dance. Notice this course is in two lessons.

Women technique 1 Women technique 1 is for intermediate and advanced dancers.

Women technique 2 Women technique 2 is for advanced dancers and eventually intermediate dancers who also take Women technique 1.

 

The Levels

Level 2
You have danced regularly, by which we mean at least two to three times week, for at least six months to a year or more. You are working on he undamental techniques, and think you are getting quite good at them.

Level 3
You are an experienced social dancer. You feel entirely comfortable with he basics and are working on intermediate tango elements and some more vanced stuff, in both open and close embrace. It is quite natural for ou to adapt your style of dancing to different orchestras. You have een dancing ango regularly (2-3 times/week) for at least 2-3 years or onger.

Level 4
You are a very experienced dancer who feels equally confident in tango, vals and milonga. You have no problems with balance or technique and dance with equal comfort in both close and open position. You actually njoy dancing on very crowded floors and never collide with other couples. You have visited several tango festivals outside your country f residence. You have been dancing tango regularly (2-3 times/week) for at least 4-5 years or longer
